From Sharafabad to Bahadurgarh- the Gateway of Haryana, today is a popular industrial hub of the national capital region. Bahadurgarh is located in Jhajjar district of Haryana. The region accounts for a population of 1,70,426 as per reports of Census India 2011.

Origin of Bahadurgarh

The city, with Mughal roots, was founded in 1754 A.D, by the emperor Alagmir II and was called Sharafabad. He gave the town in Jagir to the Baloch brothers, Bahadur and Tej Khan in 1754 A.D. They renamed the town to Bahadurgarh and built the locally famous fort, the Bahadurgarh fort.

Bahadurgarh is only 2 km away from the Tikri border of Delhi. Its significance as an industrial hub is exemplified by the construction of an extension of the Delhi metro, currently underway.  After the completion of this metro, Bahadurgarh will be much more accessible. The importance of the town will rise and it will probably lose its title as a town and turn into a city.

Needless to say; the climate through the year in Bahadurgarh is much akin to that of Delhi’s due to their proximity.

The city experiences heavy rain through the months of May to September. The summer high hits 40 degrees Celsius and the winter low hits 8 degrees Celsius. The climate in summer is hot but comfortable due to the humidity in the air. The winters are cold and humid, though still comfortable.
Bahadurgarh is located at 28.68°N 76.92°E.[2] It has an elevation of 206 metres.

Bahadurgarh is a Tehsil and a municipal council located in Jhajjar district of Haryana. It compromises of 31 wards. The local civic agency, Municipal Council of Bahadurgarh, handles the city’s infrastructure and development. As it is part of Haryana, it also comes under the jurisdiction of the Haryana Urban Development Authority.

Bahadurgarh takes pride in its high cattle population. Needless to say; they do not lack milk and dairy products. They need their spoonful of ghee on all their rotis and dishes.
